Looking to know whether a contact is on WhatsApp or not?
This guide is for you.
I have shared three ways to check if a contact is on WhatsApp or not.
#1 method is a semi-automatic way to check if a contact is on WhatsApp or not.
#2 method is fully automatic.
#3 method is manual, which you might already know!
Let’s get started!
This method requires you to install a Freemium chrome extension called WA Web Plus.
WA Web Plus chrome extension works with WhatsApp web. You might have to connect your WhatsApp with WhatsApp web.
All you have to do is,
Log into your WhatsApp web account.
Open the WA Web Plus chrome extension.
And you can start using WA Web Plus. You don’t even need to sign up to use WA Web Plus.
Step 1: Search for WA Web Plus Extension on Google
The very first result will show the WA Web Plus chrome extension.
Click on it and check if the extension is from WAWebPlus.com
Install it once it’s installed. Pin the WA Web Plus extension.
Step 2: Log in to your WhatsApp web account.
Step 3: Click on the WA Web Plus chrome extension. Go to Business Tools >> Click on Broadcast.
After that, you’ll see Select Target Contact. Under this section, you’ll see “Import From List.”
Click on it and paste the number that you want to check.
Make sure you add the prefix 91 with the number.
+91 is India’s dialing code. For example, if the number is 9673402844
After adding the prefix 91, it will look like 919673402844
It’s a random number. Don’t think of calling me. 🙂
Step 4: Tick the verify button. And WA Web Plus will remove the contacts if it is not on WhatsApp.
As you can see, this number is available on WhatsApp. By the way, I randomly created this number. 🙂
You can use this semi-automatic method to check thousands of contacts and verify if it’s on WhatsApp or not.
This method automatically lets you know if a phone number is on WhatsApp. To use this method, you would need access to some tools.
2) 360 Dialog
3) Google Sheets
This method is for businesses who want to automatically check and segregate the contact if it is on WhatsApp or not.
Watch this video to understand the workflow.
An overview of this workflow:
1. Data will be sent from Google sheets to 360 Dialog. This will happen through Pabbly Connect software.
2. Then the number is available on WhatsApp or not that data will be sent back to Google sheets
3. 360 Dialog will verify the number.
With the help of this automation, you can verify thousands of numbers.
This method is recommended for businesses that have a large database of contacts and don’t know if the contact is on WhatsApp or not. If you have a business and want to do WhatsApp Marketing. Read my guide on WhatsApp Marketing in 2022
Let’s move on to the manual method.
This method you might already know. It’s a basic method.
This is the link. When you click on it, you can message the person on WhatsApp if the number is on WhatsApp.
https://wa.me/(Add your number here)?text=hello
See the example above.
The link will be the same; all you have to do is, change the number you want to check.
Ensure you include a dialling code in the prefix of the number.
91 is India’s dialling code. After that, you can type in the number.
Once you’re done, copy the link and paste it into your browser search box.
If the number is on WhatsApp, you’ll be able to message. Else it will give you an error like “The Phone Number is Invalid.”
This method you might already know.
Step 1: Save the contact in your phone
Step 2: Open WhatsApp
Step 3: Click on the Chat icon at the bottom right side
Step 4: Search for the contact name
Ensure your mobile data is on.
If the contact is on WhatsApp, you’ll be able to message them on WhatsApp. Else you’ll see the option to invite the contact on WhatsApp.
WA Web Plus is a Chrome extension that works with WhatsApp Web application.
And you’ll be able to send bulk messages on WhatsApp. You can create tags and do basic automation.
You can connect to WhatsApp web with the WA Web Chrome extension without signing up on WA Web Plus. WA Web Plus has free and paid plans.
That’s easy to know. If the sent message is not getting double right, you can’t see the person’s profile and last seen.
All these are signs that the person has blocked you on WhatsApp.
Yes. But if the contact is available on WhatsApp, then you’ll be able to send WhatsApp messages.
Otherwise, you have to invite them on WhatsApp or use their WhatsApp.
That means you can message that person on WhatsApp.
Step 1: Save the number.
Step 2: Open WhatsApp
Step 3: Click on Message icon at the bottom right
Step 4: Search the contact’s name.
Make sure you’re connected to the internet.
And if you can’t find the number. That means the contact is not available on WhatsApp.
Yes. You can see. As long as they have not blocked your WhatsApp number. 🙂
It’s hard to identify whether someone has uninstalled WhatsApp. To know that, you have to check the person’s mobile and see if WhatsApp is installed or not.
Yes, they can. You have deleted the contact and not blocked it. Deleted contact will not be visible in the Chats section but when they message you. It will arrive in the Chats section.
In today’s guide, I have shared four ways to check if a contact is on WhatsApp or not.
Some methods are manual, and some are automatic ways to verify the number.
In case you have hundreds or even thousands of contacts and want to check whether the contacts are on WhatsApp. Then, you’ll find the semi-automatic method useful.
And if you want to completely automate the process of checking if the number is on WhatsApp or not, then use Method #2.
